* Về cơ sở lý luận
Luận án đã:
- Xác định, làm rõ nội hàm khái niệm tự đánh giá trong đảm bảo chất lượng.
- Nêu ra các điều kiện thực hiện và nội dung cơ bản của tự đánh giá trong đảm bảo chất lượng ở  trường THPT.
* Về cơ sở thực tiễn:
- Luận án đã nêu ra thực tiễn tự đánh giá ở trường THPT của một số quốc gia trên thế giới và đánh giá thực trạng tự đánh giá ở trường THPT Việt Nam (nghiên cứu trường hợp điển hình ở Thái Bình); từ đó rút ra kinh nghiệm tự đánh giá cho các trường THPT Việt Nam.
- Luận án đã đề xuất, thử nghiệm một số biện pháp đổi mới tự đánh giá ở trường THPT Việt Nam.
Căn cứ vào cơ sở lý luận và thực tiễn, luận án đã đề xuất một số kiến nghị đối với Bộ GD&ĐT; với các sở GD&ĐT và với các trường THPT Việt Nam việc tổ chức hoạt động tự đánh giá trong đảm bảo chất lượng.

* About the rationale:
The thesis has:
- Determined and clarified the concept of self-assessment in quality assurance.
- Proposed the conditions for implementation and the basic contents of a self-assessment in quality assurance at high schools.
* About the practical basis:
- The thesis has pointed out the practices of self-assessment at high schools in several countries around the world and has evaluated the current situation of self-assessment at high schools in Vietnam (typical case study in Thai Binh), from which to draw effective self-assessment experiences for high schools in Vietnam.
- The thesis has proposed and implemented some new self-assessment measures at high schools in Vietnam.
Based on fundamental rationale and practice, the thesis has proposed a number of recommendations for the Ministry of Education and Training, the provincial departments of Education and Training, and high schools in Vietnam in order to perform self-assessment activities in quality assurance effectively.
